An Apple employee at a store in Maryland voted to join a union for the first time in the United States

As of Saturday, the first American unionization of Apple Inc. retail employees took place when Marylanders voted to form a collective bargaining unit.
Towson near Baltimore “overwhelmingly voted to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers,” the union stated on its website.
According to a letter sent to Apple CEO Tim Cook by the Coalition of Organized Retail Employees, the workers in the area “have the support of a solid majority of our coworkers.”
We don’t want to offend or upset our management, so we don’t do things this way.
The reporter emailed an Apple spokesperson, who said the company had “nothing to add at this time.”
Companies like Amazon.com Inc. and Starbucks Corp. are stepping up their unionization efforts.
Those Atlanta-based Apple employees who wanted to join a union last month withdrew their application, citing intimidation.
Some current and ex-Apple employees started using the hashtag #AppleToo last year to express their displeasure with the company’s working conditions.
