Is Nepal heading towards a big recession?

Some of my friends back in Nepal have been complaining about the slow economy and the effect of interest rate hikes on their businesses. Recent political events in Nepal also suggest it.

Do you think Nepal is heading towards a big recession ?

  1. I believe Nepal has already started a recession, and it will worsen for the next 6-18 months. We’ll see many “luxury” type businesses struggle and go out of business as people try to spend less in coming months. Political unrest will continue to add stress to the already wavering economy. My advice would be to save as much as possible right now and don’t invest in businesses that are non-essential until we are back in a growth economy.

  2. The last time Nepal was not in recession was in the late 90’s. After the millennium, Nepal has been a hole.

One of the poorest country in Asia and also in the World. What have we learn but our arrogant greed and high proudness?

  3. Nyaaa. We are facing recession. The amount of shops being closed rn is baffling. There’s no money with people at this point whatsoever. Big business are being shut. Only people who have a bit of money is people who have kids abroad. So recession doesn’t feel entirely like recession. This might end shortly tho.

  4. Nepal is currently experiencing an economic slowdown, but it is not yet technically in a recession. A recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth. Nepal’s economy contracted by 1.86% in the fiscal year 2022-23, but it is still too early to say whether this will be followed by further contraction in the next quarter.

  5. Business bhako haru frustu bhako bhaye hami lower mid class kasari bachiracham sochana ! katiko finance sahakari le paisa khairakochan, afnai dajubhai ista mitra le paisa thagirachan ajkal.khoi kasari bacham aba hami idk
